Vieille Tour - Bordeaux 2019

  • Regular price $20.00

We said this last Spring and we will say it again - From Fronsac, to Haut Medoc, to Cotes de Bourg, sub-$20 Bordeaux is having a moment in the US wine trade.

...Maybe it is the uncertainty of the times? Perhaps folks are more than ever craving the comfort found in classics?

...Maybe it is the pricing? This category is a buyer's market like no other in the wine business right now. This is the only category in wine where the prices are lower today, and the deals more raucous than they were three years ago.

...Maybe it is simply because the workhorse wines from this part of France are downright delicious, delivering dollar-for-dollar personality and character at a level unheard of anywhere else in the world?

Whatever the reason (all of the above?) we are here to make you happy today, because everyone loves some nice-looking wooden boxes of biodynamically farmed, handmade, high-scoring, Bordeaux Superieur in the $teens:

"Aromas of ripe blackberries and cassis, together with black olives, bark and nut shells. Medium-bodied with polished tannins and bright, juicy-fruit character on the palate. Merlot and cabernet sauvignon. From organically grown grapes. Better in 2023." 91 Points. -James Suckling

Yes, these deliver in wood boxes, as pictured, at the below ridiculous price.

...a special thanks to Chateau de la Vieille Tour's owner/farmer/winemaker, our dear friend Nico Boissonneau, for making this magic happen today as an encore to this same hoardfest last Spring!
